Tribute band to welsh band Stereophonics

ABOUT STEREOSONICS

In 1999 our group began as a covers band playing a varied repertoire of current and classic anthems. Our set included several Stereophonics tracks and it soon became apparent that Shane had the same vocal range and a similar voice to Kelly Jones. So in the summer of 2000 we decided to venture into the world of tribute bands and Stereosonics were born under the original first name of Replicaphonics!

The band mastered the large catalogue of Stereophonics songs and began to perform live on a regular basis. Even playing a fantastic gig at the Working Man’s Club in Cwmaman, Wales; where the Stereophonics played their first ever live show, due to it being Kelly, Richard and Stuart’s home town! the band had the great pleasure of being joined onstage by Stuart Cable Stereophonics former drummer – which is a personal highlight for all band members.

Stereosonics received many compliments that evening regarding Their performance, even being told that Shane sounds like Kelly by Mrs Jones herself! (Kelly’s mother, Beryl) they continued to perform over the years and became renowned for providing great entertainment that could not be rivalled unless you had an audience with the band themselves.

Due to family commitments and a member of the group emigrating they took a year off from the performing scene, although they continued to rehearse and hone their performance as close to the originals as possible.

They were now back with a vengeance and ready to rock the tribute music scene once again.

As the band restarted with new members, it felt that a new beginning and a new name was necessary. Formally known as the Replicaphonics, the band re-emerged as the Stereosonics.

Stereosonics are proving to be more successful than ever and continue to tour the length and bredth of the UK going from strength to strength.

They play the stereophonics home town, Cwmaman, on a regular basis and have achieved high accolades each time. and have been joined on stage by Stuart Cable and Richard Jones…

In 2009 many of Kelly’s family members attended including his mother & father who wrote the Stereosonics a personal letter which is quoted as follows

“It was rather humbling to hear other people giving such a passionate performance of our son’s songs. We spent many years following the Stereophonics before they even became them, and now to hear people like you paying tribute to them, and people we have met at concerts who are as passionate about the band as we are. There’s a new album out in November, if you get it, hope there’s a few on it you can add to your set list. All the best for your future, we’ve spoke to Kelly and told him about the Stereosonics and that they did you justice.

Take Care,

Beryl & Oscar”

Following the sad loss of Stuart Cable on 07.06.2010 Stereosonics felt it important to mark his passing as he was a person who influenced them all deeply and without him the band would not have the music they are so passionate about. Stereosonics planned a Stuart Cable Benefit gig in aid of a charity he supported, Ty Hafan, on 23.10.10 at the Cwmaman Institute. This gig was a great success with all proceeds from ticket sales to Ty Hafan. Once again, Cwmaman done them proud with their support and surprised the stereosonics with some of Kelly’s & Stuart’s family and Stereophonics Bassist, Richard Jones, attending. Richard kindly joined the Stereosonics on stage for Bartender and the Thief which was a great honour..

“We thank all of our fans for continuing to support us as a tribute band and we thank the Stereophonics for making music which inspires us and is a pleasure to perform. We look forward to seeing you on the road in the future!

Stereosonics – Shane, Wayne, Craig, Leigh and Lewis x
